Patio Crushables by The Beer Maven

I am a dark beer drinker through and through but I wanted to stretch my tastes a little and venture into the ever popular summer drink category. I’ve featured a variety of beers and even some ciders and hard iced teas. Everything is Canadian craft except for a couple Belgians thrown in the mix. Thank you to Bowen Island Brewing , Whistler Brewery, Big Rock, Steamworks, 49th Parallel Group, Alley Kat, Tool Shed, Yukon Brewing and Hey Y’all for sending these samples my way to feature. Cheers guys and happy summer drinking ! *As seen on justbeerapp.com

Phillips Brewing

Phillips Bottle Rocket ISA 5% abv

The aroma is all hops, indicative of the Phillips Brand, when I’m in the mood for a bitter hopped out beer I always go to Phillips. Huge flavour on the first sip with a quick clean finish.

Alley Kat Brewing Company

Aprikat 5% abv

The aroma of apricots is distinctive, if your not sure about ‘fruit beers’ and want to ease into the idea this is the perfect beer for you. If your saying nope I love that shit, then pop in half a fresh apricot after you pour it and enjoy the crushability of Alley Kat’s best seller.

Yukon Brewing

You’d Be Surprised Raspberry Citrus Ale 5.4% abv

I know declaring its so refreshing is an over used statement with beer writing but it’s my honest reaction with this beer. Raspberries & Citrus are strong players in the aroma game; they blend into the ale lingering on your palate lightly acting as more of a supporting role than a lead. I would recommend serving with raspberries or your fav citrus slice for a fun twist to pull out the fruit as a feature.

Tool Shed Brewing Company

Black Currant Gose 4.7% abv

A Gose style beer brewed with fresh black currant purée. Pours a unique light pink color and offers a huge assortment of flavours. From sweet to tart to salty this beer has it all. Brewed for 2016 International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day, where females in the brewing industry gather to create a beer. Some of the proceeds go to the Pink Boots Society.

Summer is meant for outside living so call your family and friends over for a BBQ and enjoy some patio crushables together. As always send me an email at TheBeerMaven@shaw.ca or DM me on Twitter if you have any comments or would like to be featured.
